One of the things I love about photographing families at South Pond is the balance between nature and the city. You get the feeling of being surrounded by a peaceful park while still capturing the unmistakable character of Chicago in the background. The skyline, the lagoon, the bridges, and the mature trees all come together to create photographs that feel timeless and connected to this place.

For this small business session, we focused on capturing individual headshots as well as team images that highlight the collaboration and energy within the company. By bringing a consistent lighting style and a comfortable approach to the workplace, we were able to create a cohesive collection of images that the team can use across websites, LinkedIn profiles, marketing materials, and company communications.

There is something special about photographing the relationships that grow alongside childhood — especially the bond between cousins. I recently welcomed two cousins into the new studio for a portrait session that combined timeless studio photography with the natural beauty of the park right outside the door.

One of the greatest gifts of being a family photographer is getting to watch families grow. What begins as a single session often becomes a relationship that spans years — birthdays, milestones, new additions, and all of the little moments in between.

I recently photographed this beautiful family for another fall portrait session, and it was especially meaningful because I have been documenting their story for more than 10 years. Watching children grow from little ones into their own unique personalities is one of the most rewarding parts of this work.
