Uplifting stories of ordinary people making extraordinary impacts in their communities. Small Forces Make Big Change.

In a world of seven billion people, it’s easy to believe our actions don’t make a difference. Each of us, though, has the capacity to affect positive change. We are all small forces, and while everyday acts may feel insignificant, they in fact ripple outward and change the world.

When the state of Pennsylvania established an Algebra test as a graduation requirement, the math teachers at State College Area High School stepped up to design an innovative classroom for students who had historically struggled with math. With a focus on individual attention enabled by two math teachers in each classroom, the school saw its rate of passing increase significantly. Perhaps more importantly, students feel cared for, confident and empowered. Before the pandemic, our team spent a week with these dedicated and passionate teachers, and we are thrilled to share their story with you today. Teachers have always been heroes, and the challenges of the past several months have made that even clearer. We are honored to share this story that celebrates the hard work of very special teachers!

We are boosting the efforts of our amazing partner organizations: Supporting Parents for Peace and Justice helps families affected by gun violence.

HELP FAMILIES AFFECTED BY GUN VIOLENCE AND LOCAL RESTAURANTS!

The holidays are hard for people grieving. That's why PPJ hosts an annual holiday dinner for the families we serve who have lost a loved one to gun violence. Due to Covid-19, we will not be hosting the dinner this year, but we have an idea! We'd love to give each family a gift card to a local restaurant to get some take out and feel supported and loved by their community.

We are asking our supporters to donate restaurant gift cards for this cause! Simply buy a gift card from your favorite local restaurant, and send it to us, and we will make sure it goes to a family in need this holiday season!! Our local restaurants need our help to get through this time, and so do our grieving neighbors! Thank you for your support!

We are boosting the efforts of our amazing partner organizations: Supporting The Boulevard helps people facing homelessness and healthcare challenges recover and find a new path home.

With your gift to The Boulevard, you light the path to home for ill and injured Chicagoans with no other place to go. The Boulevard is Illinois’ only medical respite facility for homeless adults. We provide a place of safety, healing, restoration and hope for hundreds of people each year. People who lost their home when ill health prevented them from working. People who come out of the hospital with no place to heal. People who need a hand to break the cycle of homelessness. The Boulevard has served over 10,000 people since we started. But we cannot do this work without you. Click here to read more about The Boulevard’s work and make your donation. www.blvd.org. Please give generously on this national day of giving!
