💙 Meet Our Board: Leadership in Action
Meet Tim Kolschowsky, Treasurer of the Project Exploration Board of Directors!
Tim brings years of experience in philanthropy, finance, Board governance, and strategic leadership to Project Exploration.
As President of the Gerald A. & Karen A. Kolschowsky Foundation, Tim leads charitable activities and helps connect philanthropic resources with organizations working to create meaningful impact.
He also brings previous Board and Treasurer experience to his leadership at PE.
As Project Exploration’s Treasurer, Tim helps strengthen financial oversight and supports our efforts to build the resources and long-term sustainability necessary to continue serving young people.
One of Tim’s priorities is helping Project Exploration identify new sources of funding so that we can continue expanding opportunities for youth to explore STEM, develop their talents, and build pathways toward their futures.
We are grateful for Tim’s leadership, financial expertise, and commitment to youth empowerment as Project Exploration moves into its next chapter.

We are excited to introduce Harry Craan as the new Chair of Project Exploration's Board of Directors!

Harry has been a committed member of the Project Exploration Board and brings extensive leadership experience in technology, financial services, strategic planning, education, and workforce development.

Following a successful career as an IT executive with JPMorgan Chase, Harry now shares his expertise with the next generation as an Adjunct Professor at Ivy Tech Community College, where he teaches Software Engineering.

As Board Chair, Harry is focused on helping Project Exploration strengthen partnerships, engage Board members more intentionally around their talents and networks, and build the long-term sustainability needed to continue creating transformative opportunities for young people.
We are excited for Harry's leadership as Project Exploration moves into its next chapter of impact, growth, and sustainability.

Curiosity took the lead at the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry Griffin Museum of Science and Industry 🧪🔬✨

Our Project Exploration students spent the day exploring exhibits, asking questions, and seeing science in motion. From hands-on discoveries to the conversations that kept going from one exhibit to the next, this was the kind of learning that sticks.

Plenty of questions. Plenty of laughter. A whole lot to remember. 💙

The assignment: make pizza from scratch.
The result: no crumbs left. 🍕 Okay, maybe a few lol.

Through Culinology with Chef Shanell of Hayah Cafe, Hayah Cafe Chicago our summer campers at Douglass STEM Learning Center got hands-on in the kitchen — mixing dough, choosing toppings, working together, and learning how much science shows up before the first bite.

Cooking, chemistry, collaboration, confidence — all in one slice.

She came to have fun AND learn science. Turns out you can do both. 💚

HISTORY IS STILL BEING WRITTEN.

A new species, Spinosaurus mirabilis, has been unearthed in the Sahara — led by Project Exploration co-founder Dr. Paul Sereno and his team!!

Recently, our students toured Paul Sereno’s Fossil Lab, where they explored fossil specimens and even participated in a hands-on mini dig experience.

Moments like this transform science from something distant into something tangible.

During Black History Month, we reflect on legacy — and on access. When youth see science up close, when they dig into the past with their own hands, possibility shifts.

Hey Austin families! Project Exploration is hosting Winter WonderSTEM—a FREE, super-fun, hands-on science bash designed to light up K-8 students and their entire crew.

It’s going to be an awesome day packed with Cool Experiments, Interactive Stations (think building challenges and tinkering), and Demos to make learning STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) even more fun. We want to show every student that STEM is important and totally doable.
