Today, the Community Intelligence Unit honors and remembers the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Their courage, selflessness, and dedication to protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten. As we gather with family and friends, we pause to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and pay tribute to those who gave everything for our country.

We also extend our gratitude to our military personnel, first responders, healthcare workers, dispatchers, law enforcement officers, and community partners who continue to serve and protect every day.

“All gave some. Some gave all.”

The Community Intelligence Unit extends its thoughts and prayers to the five Chicago Police officers who were injured during the tragic incident on the West Side, as well as to anyone else who may have been affected. We pray for their full recovery and for the safety of all first responders serving our communities.

For clarification, members of the Community Intelligence Unit arrived on scene after the incident had already occurred. Upon arrival, the scene was extremely chaotic and rapidly developing. One of our partner organizations had violence prevention personnel present in the area and witnessed the incident firsthand.

This unfortunate event is a reminder that reckless and dangerous behavior has real consequences that impact officers, community members, families, and neighborhoods alike. We must continue working together to prevent violence, promote accountability, and create safer environments for everyone.

The Community Intelligence Unit remains committed to supporting violence prevention efforts, community engagement, and partnerships that help protect the residents of Chicago. Our prayers remain with the injured officers, their families, and all those affected by this incident.

This weekend our teams alongside our violence prevention partners, outreach workers, and community patrol members were OUTSIDE across the lakefront and surrounding areas making sure our city stayed safe during the large teen takeovers and gatherings. 💯

From walking the beaches, engaging with youth, assisting with crowd control, de-escalating situations, helping keep the peace, and supporting public safety efforts — our teams showed up and did what needed to be done. THIS is what real community protection looks like. ❤️🖤

Instead of standing around recording chaos, WE CHOSE TO BE APART OF THE SOLUTION.
We connected with young people, built relationships, and even had several individuals ask how they can become apart of the movement and help protect their communities. That right there is what it’s all about. 🙏🏽

The Community Intelligence Unit (CIU) is continuing to grow and we are currently looking for motivated individuals who want to stand for something bigger than themselves.

To work SECURITY assignments you MUST have:
✅ Valid PERC Card / Security License
✅ 20-Hour or 40-Hour Security Certification

If you do not have security credentials, you are STILL welcome to join our outreach, prevention, and community engagement efforts and our public safety. Everybody can play a role in protecting and uplifting our neighborhoods. 💪🏽

Thursday, today and Saturday, our Community Relations Sergeant B.Hayes along side our partners with ChitownCrimechasers-CCC did a community giveaway In the Auburn Gresham (6th District) (87th Dan Ryan) neighborhood and in the Harrison (11th District) (Garfield Park) neighborhood. They are giving away and accepted prom donations for seniors in Highschool that does NOT have anything to wear for prom. We have gotten a lot of support from Chicago Police departments 6th District and 11th district.

It’s something different when it’s one of your own.

Today I’m taking a moment to remember Police Officer Aréanah M. Preston. End of Watch: May 6, 2023. 💙

She wasn’t just a badge she was a young woman with goals, purpose, and the courage to step up and serve her city. That’s something I respect deeply. Being young and choosing this path isn’t easy, but she did it with pride.

This one hits because it reminds me why I’m doing what I’m doing. For the people. For the community. For those who came before me and gave everything.

Rest easy, Officer Preston. We got it from here. Your legacy will never be forgotten. 🖤💙

Today, our hearts are extremely heavy as we acknowledge the tragic and senseless loss of a Chicago Police Officers who was shot and killed in the line of duty at Swedish Hospital here in Chicago.

On behalf of Community Intelligence Unit, we extend our deepest condolences, prayers, and unwavering support to the families of the fallen officer, their fellow brothers and sisters in uniform, and the entire Chicago Police Department during this incredibly painful time.

This officer made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting our city. His bravery, dedication, and commitment to public safety will never be forgotten. Every day, law enforcement officers step into harm’s way to ensure the safety of others, and today we are reminded of the true risks that come with that oath.

This tragedy has deeply impacted not only the law enforcement community but the entire city of Chicago. As an organization committed to safety, awareness, and community partnership, we stand in full solidarity with CPD and all first responders who continue to serve despite the dangers they face.

Now more than ever, we must come together as one community lifting each other up, supporting those who serve, and standing united against violence. We encourage everyone to keep the families of these officers in your prayers and to show appreciation to the men and women who put their lives on the line every single day.

We are deeply saddened and outraged by the tragic act of violence that took place near 63rd & Stony Island, resulting in the loss of a young life. Our hearts are heavy as we extend our strongest and most sincere condolences to the family. No family should ever have to endure this kind of pain.

We also stand in full support and prayer with the young girl who was wounded, along with her family. We are praying for her strength, healing, and a full recovery during this difficult time.

This was not just an incident this was a direct attack on our youth, our community, and our future. We refuse to stand by in silence.

Effective immediately, the Community Intelligence Unit (CIU), alongside our partners, will be increasing our presence and conducting proactive safety patrols throughout the area. Our mission is clear to deter violence, protect our neighborhoods, and stand as a visible force for safety and accountability.
