Ellie is the kind of bride whose presence has felt like a warm hug throughout the whole process so far - every interaction with her has been so genuine, so positive, and so aligned. She’s the kind of bride that makes me think, “It’s okay if I’m not for everyone - as long as I’m for someone - the right ones”.

Wedding photography is so personal, so timeless, so irreplaceable; it isn’t a decision you should make lightly or without confidence. You should be looking not just at the art and finished product, but at the artist themselves and how they make you feel in their presence.

I love working weddings now because I feel like I’m exactly where I’m meant to be - that I’m witnessing these moments play out because of a divine alignment that turned into an assignment. I’m just grateful to be invited in, to let your love stories become my collective muse.

Can we get some photos that are artsy and blurry? YAS
Can we do some by the lake, super casual? YAS
Can we get them all in black + white? YAS
Can we bring a change of clothes? YAS
Can we jump into the water at the end? YAS
Can we recreate our first date? YAS
Can we do some cringey awkward ones for fun? YAS
Can we bring our dog? YAS
Can we bring a cake and champagne? YAS
Can we do it at our house, cozy vibes? YAS
Can we go over the top fancy for one outfit? YAS
Can we do some at our fav bar or restaurant? YAS
Can we…? YAS

It’s YOUR engagement session, I’m just the observer with an affinity for capturing it. The answer will almost always be a hard YASSSSSSS 👏🏼

I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again - your engagement session should feel like a date nightttttt. If you don’t leave it thinking “wow that was actually fun” then I simply did not do my job to my fullest extent.

Give me the dive bar, the clinking glasses, the terrible pool skills, the inside jokes I’m not in on yet, and the kind of laughter that makes you forget there’s even a camera around.

Because the magic found in the ordinary isn’t from the perfectly posed photos - it’s in you two being fully yourselves together while I just kinda tell you where to put your body at the time.

Your story deserves to be captured the way it actually feels… a little messy, a little loud, and a whole lot of fun.

So yeah, let’s make it a date night. I’ll just third-wheel with a camera, it’s sort of my specialty.

I got to hug so many people I know + love this weekend all because of this business of mine that started as just a little side gig ten years ago. It’s a blessing I’ll never quite comprehend - being able to turn my excitement for witnessing and capturing humans love one another into a whole business that sustains me. It’s the kind of blessing that could only have been orchestrated by a good + faithful God.

I love meeting new faces every year in studio, out in the wild, and on the many dance floors I partake in. But I also deeply adore the fact that this job brings me back to some of my favorite people every year, or back into the orbit of people I haven’t seen in many years. Witnessing your families, your love stories, your milestones, your journeys…it’s my favorite part. My camera is really just a tool I get to use to bridge my heart to yours, and the art we get to make along the way is a timeless + priceless product of us spending time together.

Thank you, for letting me witness you in this lifetime + freeze your memories in time forever. It’s truly the joy of my life.

This wedding day started with a fun twist of events - me and the lead photographer I was seconding for .photo hopping into our cars and tracking down the party bus that had broken down on the side of a country road to save the wedding party and keep the timeline rolling as planned! Photographers are not just artists on your wedding day - we are also planners, problem solvers, therapists, decision makers, chauffeurs, and most importantly your friend. We are there to make the magic happen just as much as we are there to capture it, which is why choosing a photographer that feels just right for you on the biggest day of your life is SO important.

It’s the coldest week of the year and I’m over here dreaming about the hottest wedding day I’ve ever worked back in August with the DeGroots 🥵

We rocked out portraits in between plenty of AC + water breaks and the bridal party kept the vibes as high as the temps were. There was also so many poignant moments throughout the day as Hannah did first looks with her dad and brother, Matt danced with his mama, and Hannah brought out her mom’s veil for party time. It’s so, so special to witness to families blending together with such obvious love for one another.

I’m soooooo ready for these summer parties to start again!

second shot for .photo with —> working with my besties is such a blessing too

More sessions this year that simply feel like a fun play date with that weird Ms. Megan girl please!! Running around with your littles is truly the joy of my life and makes the whole experience more of a fun memory and less of an annual task.

Taylor and I have dreamt together for 15 years about being wives and mothers; we would drive around in my 1997 Honda Accord with the crank down windows and talk all about what we imagined life would be like in adulthood when all our biggest dreams came true.

None of that panned out for either of us the way we expected to, but still exactly as God intended it to. While I wade through long seasons of singleness far into adulthood than I ever expected, Taylor was wading through different but similar territory while she navigated infertility. For years we’ve held each other’s grief and disbelief over our circumstances, never letting the other feel alone in their doubts.

At the height of her infertility concerns, I drove down to see her and spend the day teaching her how to use her new camera as a way to turn her grief into something productive. She politely asked me not to talk about her struggles, as the news and wounds were fresh and not something she could wrestle with that day. Of course, I obliged. While we sat on the couch talking all things camera and photography, her husband Charlie was cleaning the house. He walked into the living room with some wedding decor of theirs and exclaimed “I’m not getting rid of these things, I think we can use them in the baby’s nursery someday.” I saw the flash of pain over Taylor’s face, but what I also saw was something much bigger than that. I saw a husband carrying the hope for the BOTH of them, while Taylor had no reserves left for it that day. Her hope had drained, but Charlie was determined to carry enough of it for the both of them.

And it was enough - because it got them here.

Here, where baby Lainey will join us in just a few short weeks. Here, where an entire community’s prayer was answered as a testament to God’s faithfulness. Here, where two of the most deserving people I know get to soak up the experience of growing a human together in unity.

Here, in this phase, is such a beautiful place to be.

That feeling when you finally get to spend the rest of your life with your best frienddddd ✨🤍💃🏼

I first met Josh + Delaney while hiding in the bushes on ISU’s quad to capture a sneak attack on Delaney with her new bling in the same place their love first bloomed. Getting to spend their biggest day with them as they celebrated a happy ending that was so clearly a long-time-coming was a such a blessing and a party I won’t soon forget. 🫶🏻
