See you soon :-)
Kaolinite Obstruction is a duo show featuring the works of Mack Baker & Avery Booth.
Avery Booth seeks to emulate the naturally disruptive ebb and flow of nature throughout her work. Avery works with a variety of materials which include plants, insects, rocks, mostly from her surrounding ecosystem. Her practice centers around an appreciation of how time and erosion affect the environment. Her sculptural assemblages demonstrate the inevitability of growth and decay.
Mack Baker is a ceramicist whose practice is concerned with the physics and aesthetics of the collapsed vessel. Their work encapsulates bodily intimacy and connection, using clay as a conduit of their sensuality. Mack’s process assesses the vulnerability of the clay body, testing the limits of the wheel thrown vessel to produce a collapse.
Avery considers how the landscape of nature inherently is a body whereas Mack considers the body to be a landscape within nature. In the moment where these works meet, there is a collision between natural growth and material collapse. These works reveal that our bodies are both static and dynamic entities within the natural world; a world determined to simultaneously evolve and destruct.

Clasp-

Ella & Alanna both enjoy playing with weight along side a similar color palette in different ways in their work. At times this back and forth is very clear through muted tones something they both have a great affinity for. The overall composition is where they take very different paths Alanna using knitting & fibers. Ella uses wax, engravings & paintings in their practice to convey emotion through out their work.

The community has spoken… and on April 27, we’re flipping the script.
Kindred Liberatory Arts Open Studio presents: Perfectionism Not Required: A Creative Rebellion
Sunday, April 27 | 2:00–4:30 PM
Positive Space – 3520 W Fullerton Ave, Chicago
In our last session, we heard the truths:
“I felt overwhelmed by all the materials.”
“I kept wanting to get it right.”
“I noticed how loud my inner perfectionist gets when I create.”
This next studio is for that part of you.
What if letting go of perfection opened the door to freedom? What if being unfinished was the whole point?
Inspired by lessons from art therapy and Pat Allen’s open studio method, we’ll create within intentional limits- a small surface and a limited set of materials. Because sometimes, narrowing the tools opens the portal to presence, play, and possibility. This isn’t about getting it right.
It’s about releasing control, trusting the process, and creating from exactly where you are.
Whether it’s your first session or your fifth, there’s space for you.
$25 per person| Includes art materials, snacks, and creative sanctuary.| Only 10 spots available!

Lateral Swell
Lateral swelling pressure (LSP) develops in silty or clayey soil when the volume expansion of soil is constrained in the horizontal direction. Determination of LSP is important in designing geotechnical structures in expansive soils. Lateral Swell is a group show featuring 3 artists Jassiel Serna, Lydia Matukaitis & Jeremy Carter who have practices incorporating nature. These include but are not limited to Wood, Tajín & Clay using each as a conduit for expression. I’m excited to share with you their journeys & how they expand on what is given to us which is the earth. Adding elements of nature into your work is honoring it & each of these artists plans to do just that.

Very excited to announce “ Quill Tremor” a duo show featuring Jeremy P Wong & Adehle
Curated by Jeremy David Carter
Quill Tremor is a conversation between two artists who are very much in tune with their nature for looking to the Beyond to create. Each of them pull from a fable world, using discretion as they wish. What does it look like when these perspectives collide? A shift is created. This creates a tremor between two minds: a push & pull. How they align or misalign is something very special to witness.
