Our Composer of the Week is…
Igor Stravinsky! 🌿🐦🔥
Stravinsky was a Russian-born composer, pianist, and conductor whose innovative works shaped 20th-century music. Renowned for his stylistic diversity, he revolutionized composition with ballets such as The Firebird, Petrushka, and The Rite of Spring, the last of which famously caused a riot at its Paris premiere due to its unusual rhythms and dissonance. Throughout his career, Stravinsky continually reinvented his musical language - moving from Russian nationalism to neoclassicism and later, serialism - cementing his reputation as one of the 20th century’s most influential and versatile musical figures.
