UIC Urban Medicine Program

The mission of UMed is to train physician-leaders to serve urban underserved communities, dismantle disparities and advocate for social justice

UMed is a longitudinal, four-year curriculum that takes advantage of UIC's location and breadth of clinical and community opportunities to prepare physician-leaders for urban communities. Graduates of the UMed curriculum will be equipped to deal with the challenges confronting the urban population, regardless of which specialty they enter. Calling all North Lawndale and Auburn Gresham students! 📢

We are excited to share a fantastic opportunity for rising Juniors and Seniors: the ChiPHi Summer Program! This initiative is a collaboration between the UIC Neighborhood Centers, the School of Public Health, GAGDC, and the Sinai Urban Health Institute.

Students will have the chance to explore health careers, earn college credit, and receive a stipend. There are only 20 slots available (10 for North Lawndale and 10 for Auburn Gresham), so if you're interested in a future in healthcare, don't miss out!

Last Sunday our Young Doctors Club youth shared and celebrate with the community all that they’ve learned from the UMed medical students about health, wellness and the human body at our Annual Young Doctors Club Health Fair!

You can really see all the joy of learning and being in community in these photos. It takes a village and UMed is so grateful to be part of this family!

Thank you to the Young Doctor’s Club for giving us so much to be grateful for. We all left with full tummies and hearts and each of the doctor’s in-training received a stethoscope and anatomy coloring book! 💝
