Is your little one meeting their motor milestones? 👶💙
Every child develops at their own pace, but certain delays may be a sign that extra support could help. Pediatric physical therapy focuses on improving strength, balance, coordination, mobility, and confidence through play-based activities tailored to each child.
Getting support early can make a big difference—and sometimes all a family needs is reassurance, guidance, or a few simple activities to encourage development at home.
If you have questions about your child’s motor skills, we’re here to help!

🌟 Balance, coordination, strength, and focus—all wrapped into one fun game! 🌟
This obstacle challenge is working on:
✨ Single leg balance while stepping over the stick
✨ Hand-eye coordination and motor planning while catching the bean bag
✨ Squat strength and stability to place each bean bag on the matching cone
✨ Core strength, body awareness, and postural control throughout the activity
Kids are having so much fun they don’t even realize how many important skills they’re building!
Every step, catch, and squat helps improve the foundation for running, jumping, navigating the playground, and participating confidently in everyday activities.

“They’re just clumsy...” 🤔
We hear this from parents all the time. While the occasional trip or fall is a normal part of childhood, frequent stumbling, difficulty keeping up with peers, or falling during everyday play may be a sign that your child could benefit from extra support.
Movement is a skill that develops over time. Some children simply need a little extra help building the strength, balance, coordination, and motor planning needed to move confidently.
Pediatric physical therapy can help your child:
✨ Improve balance and coordination
✨ Build core and leg strength
✨ Develop body awareness
✨ Master age-appropriate gross motor skills
✨ Improve motor planning
✨ Gain confidence during play and everyday activities
At Core Kids Pediatric Physical Therapy, our goal is to help children move safely, confidently, and independently through fun, play-based therapy that’s tailored to their individual needs.
Every child deserves to feel confident exploring their world.

🌟Skipping🌟
Skipping is a complex gross motor skill that most children learn between 4–6 years of age,
Before a child can skip, they need:
✨ Single-leg balance
✨ Strength to hop on one foot
✨ Coordination
✨ Motor planning
✨ Weight shifting
✨ Rhythm and timing
This activity breaks skipping into smaller, manageable steps!
Step 1: Start by stepping side-to-side with a single-leg hop on one colored dot.
Step 2: Progress to diagonal dots to challenge balance, coordination, and weight shifting.
Step 3: Finish with dots lined up in a row to practice the step-hop pattern and rhythm needed for independent skipping.
Why we love this activity:
💙 Improves single-leg balance
💙 Builds lower extremity strength
💙 Develops motor planning
💙 Encourages bilateral coordination
💙 Promotes weight shifting
💙 Teaches rhythm and timing
💙 Reinforces the step-hop sequence that is essential for skipping
Breaking big skills into smaller building blocks helps children gain confidence while developing strong movement patterns through play.

🌟 Crawling Patterns 🌟
Crawling can look different for every baby.
Different crawling patterns can give insight into how strength, coordination, balance, and motor skills are developing.
While some variation is typical, persistent alternative patterns may mean a baby is relying on compensations rather than building the foundation for skills like walking and climbing.
If you have concerns about your baby’s crawling, a pediatric physical therapist can help assess and support development.

🌟 Flippin’ for Strength and Coordination! 🌟
In today’s session, we challenged our client to walk in swim flippers while navigating balance tasks! 🏃♂️🐬
Swim flippers are a fun and effective therapy tool that help promote:
✨ Increased ankle and foot strength
✨ Improved dorsiflexion (lifting the toes up)
✨ Better balance and postural control
✨ Enhanced body awareness and motor planning
✨ Improved gait mechanics by encouraging a heel-to-toe walking pattern
✨ Greater lower extremity strength and endurance
Adding hurdles or balance buckets takes the challenge even further by encouraging higher foot clearance, single-leg balance, coordination, and attention to movement patterns.
Most importantly, incorporating creative activities like this keeps therapy engaging while helping children build the foundational skills needed for success in everyday play and movement! 💙
