From discovering her voice and community at to shaping policy and advocacy in Washington, D.C., Riley’s journey shows the power of getting involved and leading with purpose. Her work spans national campaigns, the D.C. Mayor’s Office and Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation—all focused on supporting LGBTQ+ communities and helping young people feel seen, supported, and valued.

Flat DIBS gets his kicks on Route 66 🛣️

From ribbon cuttings to roadside attractions, Nikki Roberts (CMN ’20) is bringing DIBS along for the ride as she helps travelers discover some of Illinois’ most iconic destinations.

“DePaul challenged me to achieve more and showed me there’s no one-size-fits-all path after graduation.”

Now a destination marketing manager, Nikki highlights the best of Route 66, Starved Rock Country and Illinois’ historic canal towns — proving just how far a education can take you.

From cheering for the with her dad every Sunday at home to reporting on the sidelines at Soldier Field, J. Samantha Rivera (CMN ’17) has come full circle. 🏈

At DePaul, she dove into every opportunity as a Blue Demon—including her first bilingual reporting experience as a radio co-host intern with Univision—while mentors like Elizabeth Godvik Jennings and Rick Brown pushed her to find her voice. With her dad encouraging her to take advantage of the wide breadth of journalism classes DePaul has to offer.

Now at , Rivera is using her voice in English and Spanish to connect with fans like her own family—and to show others they belong, too.
