Today is the longest day of daylight in the year (in the Northern Hemisphere) and the official start of summer.

Did you know the name solstice comes from the Latin words sol (sun) and stitium (standing) because the sun’s relative position in the sky at noon does not appear to change much during the solstice and surrounding days?
