Trip Back in time to the Old West
Aug. 30
Visited an old time mini village, saw a Western Show with some cowboy sing-alongs and dined on some good "grub"

SHAMROCKS AND SHENANIGANS 03/20/2014

Left the snow and ice behind, shed our winter coats and boots and went to the St Patrick's Day show at Starved Rock State Park Wolf Lodge where we enjoyed the Irish wit and songs of the Gilhoolys, ate corned beef and cabbage and all the trimmings and drank Irish whiskey. Reconnected with long time Sandy travelers and met a few new ones. Now on to more spring time fun!!

Mini-Mystery Trip -Jan 18,2014 01/21/2014

RUN AWAY WITH ME- 30 of you trusted me enough to "run away" to an unknown destination on a cold snowy Saturday. Drove to Milwaukee with first stop at the famous Mitchell Domes stopping first at Milwaukee County Winter Farmers Market which is held conveniently enough within the Domes. Sampled and bought lots of good things then walked thru the Desert Dome and their new display of a miniature village complete with two running trains and lots of beautiful flowers and trees. The third Tropical zone was closed for maintenance but we still had lots to enjoy and explore. Sure to return to the Rainforest there at a later springtime date.
We then made our way to a Safe House - hard to describe but very unique and fun. Had great spy-themed food in the Press Room and enjoyed a guided tour thru many aspects of the House including the interrogation room, secret escape routes and CIA briefing room. We even saw a piece of the actual Berlin Wall, learned lots of spying tricks and tips and had to find our way thru a mysterious series of twists and turns which had to be accessed first with the use of a special password. Then surrounded by gunfire several brave souls "escaped" thru a warehouse!! Some of the more chicken hearted took a much easier escape route-thru the back door!!!But 32 went in and 32 came out! After we recovered a little from that adventure we made a quick shopping stop at the Mars Cheese Castle ending our day - left in cold but came home to lots of blowing snow. Thanks to Martin our great bus driver we all arrived home safe and sound. I think everyone had a fun day and survived the mystery. See what the rest of you missed?? So next time get that reservation made!!
