No more blizzards please

Congrats to my old pal Ronen Givony, who has a new book out this week chronicling the Brooklyn music scene from a very wild decade to have been (a small) part of it. What an honor to have a whole chapter about my ensemble Bing & Ruth in here too… featuring my/our story and the whirlwind creation of our first proper full length album City Lake in 2009. The entire book is a delight and you should read it!

In an extremely depressing twist of irony, the story being told here starts with our leaders’ criminally misguided hunger for pain in the Middle East (chapter 1: “Shock and Awe”). And here we are decades later and the clowns are at it again. Round and round and we pray for peace still 😔

One month of Graze the Bell! It’s been a lot of talking, a lot of listening, and a lot of scheming - but mostly it’s been a month filled with kind notes from friends and strangers alike (and snow, so much snow). To be honest with you, I had no idea what to expect with this oddly shaped collection of piano music dropping at the outset of what has already proven to be a wild and brutal year, but I continue to be delighted every day by the time and attention people are giving this album. Thank you!!

One week of Graze the Bell. Deep thanks to everyone who spends time with it so far. Very cool to see so many folks digging on solo piano music. What a trip!

Getting excited for the Brooklyn show next week. I also want to take the op to dust off some Bing & Ruth songs. My friend (and fellow Kansas expat) is putting their brilliant brain towards the lighting design I can’t wait.
