Mayor Brandon Johnson visited Daley College's MTEC for a fireside chat with students and staff. Our members showed up to remind the mayor that our working conditions are our students' learning conditions, and we are worth more than 1%! ✊💥

The fall semester has arrived, yet we do not have a labor contract. In today's FDW welcoming remarks, Provost Potter claimed CCC highly values its students & faculty, all while they continue to disrespect us. We are worth more than 1%. Fair contract NOW.

Illinois colleges failing to protect immigrant students despite new law, WBEZ/Sun-Times analysis finds 05/17/2026

Despite our chapter leadership urging administration otherwise, the Sun-Times and WBEZ have published this disappointing report:
"But the City Colleges of Chicago...haven’t complied with three of the four key requirements...the procedures...don’t lay out how staff members are supposed to document interactions with immigration agents or notify staff or students if agents are looking for information about them. And there’s no contact for reporting sightings of agents on the school system’s website."

Illinois colleges failing to protect immigrant students despite new law, WBEZ/Sun-Times analysis finds Advocates have touted the Illinois law that applies to public colleges as a model, but some colleges don’t make it easy to find information and don't have protocols for what to do if immigration agents come on campus.
