Citizens Utility Board
See what great services we offer Land of Lincoln consumers!
Since its inception in 1984, the Citizens Utility Board has been blocking rate hikes and fighting for consumer protections and better service from the stateโs investor-owned electric, gas and telephone companies. Since 1984, CUB has helped save Illinois consumers more than $10 billion by blocking rate hikes, winning refunds, cutting phone bills, and fighting for consumer protections in Springfield.

Why is ComEd's power price about 50% higher than two summers ago?
CUB Board Treasurer Steven Hall knows--it's mostly because of soaring demand from new and proposed data centers!
Standing on the steps of the State Capitol in the final days of the legislative session, Steve urged legislators to pass the POWER Act. We weren't able to get it over the finish line this time--but we're not giving up, because bills will only get higher.
Please send a message to your state legislators to pass the POWER Act, commonsense guardrails on data centers: https://buff.ly/kcm4Kej

Two areas of concern exist with storms this evening. The threat for tornadoes and destructive winds is increasing over portions of the area, mainly near/south of an Ottawa to Joliet to southern Chicago line. Storms in southern LaSalle and Livingston Counties have had a history of producing tornadoes! Farther north and west multiple waves of thunderstorms may lead to flash flooding in addition to the potential for embedded damaging wind gusts. Have multiple ways to receive warning information! Seek shelter if a tornado warning is issued for your area!

WARNING: Beware of bad alternative electricity supplier deals!
It's likely, even in this high-priced environment, that the utility, ComEd or Ameren, is your best bet for electricity supply.
