The Social Studies Network at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the Illinois State Board of Education has launched the "Black Studies Illinois: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow" page! It's a set of free textbooks, resources, and curriculum that meet the mandated unit of study for the required teaching of Black History in all Illinois Schools.

The summer field trip continues! Learning Dimensions founder, Monica Swope, recently visited the Joliet Park District to enjoy the Bird Haven Greenhouse and Conservatory. Through this, she was able to discover new plants and how the conservatory ended up on three acres of land. 🌿

Learning Dimensions founder Monica Swope's book "The Mystery of the Sparkling Compass" has been selected as a Finalist in the 2026 PenMasters Global Award for Literary Excellence! This book is part of her Brave Friends Adventure Club series. It was recognized for the originality and impact of the work. We're thankful for this honor!

Learning Dimensions encourages summer reading! Challenge yourself this season to Chicago Public Library's summer reading program. There's one for kids, teens, and adults! This year's theme is "Chapters of Chicago", celebrating stories that define the city. From June 6 to August 2, spend your time reading under the sun and participating in activities to earn prizes!

School is out for the summer and Learning Dimensions encourages everyone to take summer field trips! Founder Monica Swope recently went to Illinois Department of Natural Resources Matthiessen State Park. It was time well spent in nature to enjoy the scenery and learn a little bit about recreation and wildlife.
