We had a beautiful day welcoming Commissioner Rachel Arfa and her team from the Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD) to the farm, joined by members of our Young Adult Advisory Council.
During the visit, we shared how Growing Solutions Farm helps students build employment-readiness skills like communication, teamwork, and work stamina through hands-on experience.
We're grateful for and their efforts to work with community partners like us!

A great way to wrap up the year.
Marillac St. Vincent recognized our student volunteers with framed certificates celebrating a year of hard work.
Through this partnership, students do more than volunteer. They practice important job-readiness skills like responsibility, following directions, communication, and teamwork.
We're grateful to Marillac for creating opportunities where students can build confidence, gain experience, and see the impact of their work in the community.

We gave our Hobbies & Highlights event a new twist, with participants showing up ready to share their talents, skills, and the things they enjoy most.
From live saxophone music to boxing gloves, drawing skills and dinosaur collections, participants found new ways to share what makes them who they are.
And the fun doesn’t stop there.
A few participants will be bringing their interests and talents to Carrots & Cocktails in a special Social Networking Showcase, giving guests a chance to learn more about the program and the people at the heart of it.
Join us June 18 for an evening of food and cocktails, live music, farm tours, and experiences that bring the work of UAS to life.

Huge thanks to the Chicago Windy City Lions Club for their hard work helping maintain and care for Growing Solutions Farm.
The crew wrapped up weeding and mulching the sensory garden before moving on to other areas. Everyone pitched in, from grandma folding program t-shirts to mom and son helping clean up the farm together.
We’re also excited to welcome our new Markets & Volunteer Manager, Paula Jeremias. Thanks as well to Board Member Andi, John Hayes, and Farmer John for showing up and supporting the day.

Huge thanks to the Uber team for putting in the hard work at Growing Solutions Farm.
We couldn't be more thankful to these volunteers for helping prepare the farm for the growing season. They added soil to five beds so we could get our warm-weather crops in the ground while also weeding and mulching nearly half of the sensory garden.
Partners like this help keep the farm moving forward, and we’re grateful for the time and effort they gave to support our community.

What started this winter at the Academy continues at the farm this spring.
Students potted marjoram they seeded weeks ago while checking on green cabbage they’ve grown from seed to transplant.
Each step builds on the last as students care for the crops they started themselves – until harvest time for our summer farmers market.
