Stunning and small, honeynut squash feels like fall! 🍁
We recommend serving them roasted whole to show them off. Drizzle with brown butter and a pinch of sage and thank us later!

🍎 Fall is here, and Midwest Markets season is in full swing!

This pop-up brought a full local lineup to one of our customers’ sites: Sungold tomatoes from Otter Oaks Farm in Chicago, shiitake and oyster mushrooms from Sunny Oaks Farm in Sycamore, IL, honey from Tulip Tree Gardens in Beecher, IL, and apple cider from Garwood Orchards in La Porte, IN.

Midwest Markets are our way of bringing the farmers market experience on-site. Our customers buy the product, and we handle the setup and staffing, so their customers get an interactive, hands-on connection to where their food actually comes from.

It’s a small taste of the region, and a good reason to get excited for fall menus. 🍄🍯 TTG|Regenerative Revolution Garwood Orchard

It takes a lot of labor to bring the food we love to the people we care about. This Labor Day, we want to express our gratitude for the farmers who grow the produce we're proud to carry, the team members who deliver each case with care, the chefs who turn a raw ingredients into an unforgettable experience, and every other hand that makes this process possible.

🌶️ Carmen peppers are having their moment right now. Sweet, thin skinned, and grown right here in the city by our friends at Windy City Harvest.

This is peak season for them, so it's peak flavor too. They're a little sweeter than your average bell pepper, with a nice snap and a subtle smoky sweetness once they hit the grill. Try them roasted on a seasonal flatbread or tossed raw into salads for some extra crunch and color.

Every time you add Windy City Harvest produce to your order, you're supporting local growers and urban farming in the heart of Chicagoland.

Four Farms, One Chicagoland Tour 08/24/2026

Four farms. One day. A whole lot of inspiration.

Earlier this season, Midwest Foods joined The Conservation Fund and Carbon Yield for a tour of four Chicagoland farms, including several secured through the Chicago Farms Fund, which helps new farmers work toward owning their own land.

From Z-Farm's hoop houses in Chicago Heights to Kakadoodle Farm's goats, hens, and 30 bee colonies (feeding 600 families a week!), each stop told a different story about what it takes to build a resilient local food system.

As a wholesale partner to Farms Fund farms like Chicago Urban Farm Solutions and Otter Oaks Farm, we were there to share what we're seeing on both sides of the table — the wins and the real challenges small farms face selling to local businesses and institutions.
Swipe to see highlights!

🍑 A peach worthy of James, himself.

Garwood Orchard peaches have been picked at the peak of ripeness and are here now.

Lean into peach season on the menu this week: think peach-burrata salad with basil and a balsamic drizzle, grilled peaches alongside pork, and a peach crostata for dessert that might just steal the show. Local peaches like this don't last — Indiana's stone fruit window is short and sweet, use them while you can!

Just picked: Michigan blueberries

Pic from one of our farm tours at Berry Delicious Farm. We are in peak MI blueberry season, so the flavor right now is as good as it gets: smaller, denser berries with way more sweetness than what you'll find shipped in off-season.

On the menu: breakfast batters, summer salads, compotes + coulis, galettes and muffins, or paired with soft cheese on a board.
