Also refer to overview and our website at www.donerdesigns.org. We are self-funded but can accept free and discounted parts as well as donations to help cover parts cost. Anything we get is given away and no compensation is ever accepted for our investment of time. We are too small to even think about applying for non-profit tax status, but can provide documentation that any donationas are passed on to a non-profit org.

Captain Jim Lovell, oldest living astronaut and commander of Apollo 13 passed away yesterday at age 97. He graciously signed two of our charity projects at his restaurant in Lake Forest Illinois several years ago.

Almost ready for final assembly

After sanding to 2500 grit. As usual this one will end up with a semi gloss textured finish. It would take hundreds of dollars in paint and many more hours to get a glassy smooth finish. Nitro is not easy. Might try poly next time.

Sometimes this labor of love is a royal PITA. After 2 cans of clear we added more blue and white but it’s still not perfect and blue is bleeding through the stripes again. Might have to redo the stripes on top of the final clear coats. Not ideal might not be a disaster.

With ReRanch closed we had to find a new nitro source. Really happy with the quality of this product from Allparts. No spitting and the nozzle works well and is very comfortable to hold down for long periods of time.
