86 years young today. Thank you for the steady trickle of texts, calls and messages. The days of 4/11-4/16 this year showcase the beauty and the tragedy of life. On 4/11, we recognized the 15 year anniversary of my dad’s passing. Today, is your favorite tall artist’s bday and also the day we had my dad’s funeral those 15 years ago. And on 4/16, it would have been my dad’s 80th bday and I’ll be celebrating 22 months of sobriety. Life truly is a yin and a yang.
I’m down at my favorite little beach town finishing up the edits to my new Bear Whitman novel THE MOON AND YOU and also diligently rehearsing my lines for the upcoming Billy Joel tribute show I’m leading on 4/29.

Thank you to all my incredible family and friends. I’ve been fortunate to link up with some amazing humans on my journey.

With what’s left of my time here, I hope
to continue to grow, to learn, to be curious and to lead with love, safety, compassion, authenticity, laughter, presences, self-awareness, kindness and an affinity for dark chocolate and pistachios.

Always and all ways,
Brett Michael Visconti 💚🤍❤️

15 years today since we lost Barry Frank Wiscons. Hard to believe. I will honor him by reading a book and being kind.
Not sure why, but this was his go-to karaoke song. His passing was the impetus for me to write my book series and base the lead character on him. I wanted to talk to him through my pen, so I did. I figured I’d only write one book and that would be that. Well, book seven (over the course of those 15 years) will be release this summer. Stay tuned.
(In closing, I basically still dress exactly like this).

I’m not usually one for trends, but the 90s were peak. And I miss those days to no end.

Another month of celebrating sobriety. On the eve of the biggest blackout holiday of the year, I am glad to know I’ve chosen to keep my wits over forgetting my name and acting a fool (like I did so many times before). Thanks for the support. Being sober really feels so good.

On this date in 2023, March 3rd, we set sail on the Good Vibrations cruise and it was one of the great highlights of my career and life! So many cool people and to rub elbows and chat with some heroes of mine, was a dream come true. It’s been a good ride!

It’ll be an honor to sing the national anthem this Saturday ahead of the Depaul men’s basketball team facing off against Butler. My grandfather played for Depaul in the 1940s. You can see him in the front row wearing number 32 next to the legend that was George Mikan. Grandpa Frank was the “big man” on campus at 6’ 5” until Geroge showed up at 6’ 10”. Full circle moment for me. If you’re in the Chicago area come on out to the game. 11 AM central time tip. P.S. I still do the “Mikan Drill” when I’m shooting hoops on my own.

This seventh book of the series just kind of flew out of me. It seemed every time I sat down to write, the words and the story showed up and told me which way to go. I just listened and typed/wrote what I heard. Can only say I’m grateful for the inspiration and the muse came to visit.
You can pre-order your copy from your favorite independent author/musician at the link in my bio. I’m proud of this book and the series I created over the last 14 years. Sometimes, it takes a while for things to come into focus. Sometimes, all you can be is a patient vessel. Shipping this summer.

After 20 months of jumping off the booze train, I can (still) honestly say this is the most impactful decision I’ve ever made. More present, more productive, more self-aware, more kindness, more capacity, more love for myself and those in my orbit, more creativity, more money, less anxiety, less depression, less avoidance, lower weight, lower blood pressure, zero hangovers, zero regrets except that I wish I would have quit sooner and never started at all.
Thanks for all the support out there. I’m living proof that you don’t need booze to live a full life. I’m no expert, but if you’re struggling with how the booze shows up in your life, reach out to me or a trusted friend or mental health professional. You can do this.

So marvelous to get back on campus today and reconnect with my current self and my former self. When I attended , it was still a college but it taught me so much. How to be a critical thinker; how to be a deep thinker; how to be an independent thinker; how to be inclusive; how to be compassionate and, of course, how to drink a LOT of booze. While I’m about as far away now (and have been for years) from the Catholic faith (or any sacred faith), I am entirely grateful for the memories and friendships I formed here. I didn’t know a soul when I arrived on campus as a fresh-faced freshmen in the fall of 1998. And yet, I turned out OK and made friends for life.
