With Chicago’s 37 moveable bridges, that means over 60 bridgehouses that accompany them!
While no one actually lives in these “houses,” they still assist in moving the bridges that continue to have scheduled lifts. These lifts are currently happening this spring season, every Wednesday and Saturday. Maybe you’ll catch one in action next time you’re on board or maybe you will have a greater appreciation for all of the unique bridgehouses you’ll see on every CAC River Cruise!

Bridge lifts have once again started for the spring season!
Each year, during the spring and fall, bridges are raised all along the Chicago River to allow for recreational boats to travel to and from their storage yards.
These bridge lifts happen twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Hop on a cruise with us one of those days for a chance to catch one of these bridge lifts from the boat!
