Terrific news! The UIC College of Nursing, and especially our many faculty who specialize in diabetes care and research, congratulate our partners at UI Health.

Today, UI Health earned the “Recognized Leader in Caring for People Living with Diabetes” award from the Leapfrog Group and the American Diabetes Association!

This designation is awarded to adult and specialty hospitals for performance in key areas that support specialized care for diabetes patients, and UI Health is one of just 37 hospitals to receive the recognition.

National Geographic had to share with its 12+ million subscribers what they heard about prof Judith Schlaeger's research. That's because Schlaeger had finally studied the efficacy of acupuncture using the gold standard for clinical research: a double-blind, randomized controlled study, in which neither participants nor researchers know who is getting treatment. NatGeo subscribers can read the article online at https://loom.ly/UW9snJY. Others can read our own article about Schlaeger's work at https://loom.ly/BacwmQU.

UIC Nursing-Rockford enjoyed some fun in the sun last week when the campus's Fun Committee (that's real) put together the Summer Sizzle for students, faculty and staff. Said program advisor Faith Frana, "Events like these remind us that our campus is more than a place to learn and work. It’s a community that values connection, collaboration, and fun."
