A quick Friday lesson on Donor Lifetime Value (DLV) anyone?
DLV refers to how much someone donates to a nonprofit over the course of their relationship with that organization. You find it by multiplying the average amount of time a donor stays engaged with your nonprofit (in years) by your donors' average annual.
So, say your average donor stays engaged for 2.3 years and your average annual giving is $1,203. Your donor lifetime value calculation would look like:
$1,203 (average annual giving) x 2.3 (average donor lifetime in years) = $2,766.90
Our very own Abby Jarvis, threw together a quick article about why this metric matters and how to use it. You can check it out here 👉https://bit.ly/4viMcmk

Awareness days are a valuable opportunity for associations to remind members of the importance of their cause, strengthening their passion and dedication in the process. But, too often, associations fail to sustain this momentum because they put too much focus on the day itself without providing further opportunities for engagement.
In this article, Christopher Krueger of Kellen walks through a five-step roadmap to treat awareness days as a launchpad for sustained, year-round engagement.

In our latest blog, we explore how to turn peak emotional moments into immediate support. Asking for recurring gifts frequently may sound intimidating, especially if you're used to asking for donations only on a very set schedule.
But 💡77% of our recurring donors💡 indicated that they have no preferences around when they actually make donations.
When we looked at all of the donations created between 2023 and 2025, we see that October, November, and December were the top three months for new recurring gifts.... and those happen to be the three months when nonprofits regularly ask for support. Otherwise, recurring donations are pretty evenly distributed across other months.
If you limit yourself to asking for recurring gifts to a few months a year, try asking more regularly! Your donors probably don't prefer to give during the winter. They just need to be invited to give.

In our latest guest blog, Sara LaCava Lieberman from Thread Strategies breaks down how to use the "Wheel of Change" to shift your board culture.
As a sneak peek, it comes down to three things:
1️⃣ Behaviors
2️⃣ Thoughts & Feelings
3️⃣ Structures
Lasting change happens when we see board members as whole people, meet them where they are, and approach culture change with care and intention.
You can read Sara's full article on how to use a change management approach to board fundraising here:
The Change Management Approach to Board Fundraising | Neon One Shifting board culture around fundraising isn’t actually a fundraising problem. It’s a change management problem.

When we dropped The Recurring Donor Report a week ago, many statistics were exciting. But one really stood out: Average Donor Lifetime.
The average donor lifetime for recurring donors was between 7.5 and 8 years compared to between 1.5 and 2 years for one-time donors.
That's up to 4x longer! That long-term dedication has a major impact on their donor lifetime values. In 2025, the average donor lifetime value was $7,288.26 for recurring donors versus $3,606.90 for non-recurring donors.
The point is clear: Recurring donors are some of your most valuable and dedicated supporters.

In our research for the Recurring Donor Report, one finding stands out: 58.6% of recurring donors decided to support a cause they care about without being directly asked.
So if most of these donors aren't giving because they're asked, why are they making recurring gifts?
The large majority said that it was because they want to provide ongoing support for a cause that they care about. And when asked about what interactions prompted their giving, 41.6% said it was because they noticed a nonprofit doing important work.
Now, this doesn't mean nonprofits shouldn't ask their communities to create recurring gifts. They should absolutely do that. What it does mean is that the people who support their favorite nonprofit with a recurring gift are passionate people who want to make an impact on the world around them.
This is a sign that nonprofits should ask people for ongoing support and also be intentional about showing the people in their community how their donations will make a difference.
