NFL.com named Dillon Thieneman one of the rookies who needs to succeed right away in Year 1.
Chicago led the NFL with 23 interceptions last season, but most of that production left the building. The Chicago Bears lost Kevin Byard, Jaquan Brisker, and C.J. Gardner-Johnson, then rebuilt the safety room with Coby Bryant and Thieneman.
Thieneman gives Dennis Allen a versatile defensive back who can play deep, fill the box, and cover from the slot. If he adjusts quickly, Chicago’s secondary can stay dangerous even after major turnover.

The Chicago Bears had plenty of contributors during their division-winning season, but few players influenced games the way Montez Sweat did.
Week after week, he brought the physicality, pressure and consistency that helped shape the identity of Chicago's defense.
His production reflected that:
🧡 10 sacks
💙 13 tackles for loss
🧡 18 quarterback hits
💙 3 forced fumbles
🧡 53 total tackles
Sweat played in all 17 games and started every one of them while leading the Bears in sacks, tackles for loss and quarterback hits.
Those numbers tell part of the story.
The way he impacted games and set the tone up front was a major reason Chicago reached the playoffs and captured the NFC North crown.
🧡💙 💪 🐻

NFL.com’s Grant Gordon is buying stock in Kyle Monangai entering the 2026 season.
The seventh-round pick exceeded expectations as a rookie, rushing for 783 yards and five touchdowns while finishing among the top rookie running backs in the league. Now he enters Year 2 with Ben Johnson designing the offense.
Johnson helped build one of the NFL’s best running back duos in Detroit with Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery, and many believe Monangai and D’Andre Swift could follow a similar path in Chicago. Whether as part of a tandem or in a larger role, Monangai looks poised for a breakout season.

Rome Odunze’s second NFL season didn’t unfold the way he envisioned ❤️🩹
A foot injury cut short his regular season and prevented the Chicago Bears receiver from building on the momentum many expected after he entered the league as a top-10 pick.
With his foot fully healed and an offseason dedicated to strengthening his body, Odunze believes he’s ready to take the next step in his development and emerge as one of the focal points of the Bears’ offense.
“Oh, I’m ready for it. I’m 100% confident in it.”
The opportunity is there. Following DJ Moore’s departure, Chicago has a significant void to fill both in production and leadership, and Odunze sees a clear path toward becoming the team’s No. 1 receiver ⭐️

NFL.com named D’Andre Swift the Chicago Bears’ most underappreciated player entering the 2026 season.
With so much attention on younger players like Kyle Monangai, it’s easy to overlook what Swift continues to bring to Chicago’s offense. He averaged 5.39 yards per touch in 2025, ranked among the league’s most efficient backs, and led the Bears with 10 total touchdowns.
The spotlight may be shifting elsewhere, but Swift remains one of the most productive weapons in Ben Johnson’s offense.
