It’s Good Friday once again and time to post this annual offering. This retelling of the story resonates especially deeply with me this year after the loss of my mom. It continues to give me comfort and hope. I hope it will do the same for you.
Special thanks to Joel McGinty.

It's that time of year again! And this time we've got Hamlet remembering 'poor Yorick' while Romeo calls up to Juliet on the balcony. A real life spider decided to decorate the ironwork. Everyone's getting in the act.

New release! For My Child, Alex Amit's powerful new book about a mother's efforts to protect her young son amidst the rising tides of N**i Germany, is now available at Audible, Amazon and iTunes.
In author's words:
Danzig, late summer 1939. Elke, a young German woman, has everything—a loving family, a devoted husband, and a carefree seven-year-old son playing on the sun-drenched beaches. But in the blink of an eye, her world shatters as war breaks, engulfing her family and forever altering the course of her life.
When her husband answers the call to serve in the German army, Elke is left alone to manage their small family farm. Her strength is tested beyond measure when she receives the devastating news: her husband has been killed on the battlefields of France. Now a widow, Elke must navigate the treacherous waters of wartime Germany while protecting her most precious treasure—her son.
As the conflict rages on, Elke faces an even greater threat: the N**i regime's relentless campaign to recruit children into the Hi**er Youth. With each passing day, she must make impossible choices that will determine not only her fate but that of her beloved child. Should she defy the N**is and risk everything? Can she find the courage to help those fleeing persecution? And what kind of future awaits her son in this maelstrom of violence and ideology?

Currently recording For My Child, Alix Amit’s new novel about a German widow navigating wartime Danzig as she fights to keep her young son safe during World War II. It’s a window into a turbulent time as Elke is forced to make difficult choices as the water slowly heats up around her. This one is an emotional roller coaster ride!

I'm sorry to see this end. I rode these elevators for many years when The Moving Dock's rehearsal space was in the Fine Arts Building. I remember Waclaw. The other main elevator operator at the time was also named Waclaw.
Waclaw and Waclaw even helped us when we did a special one week run in the Fine Arts, moving us and our audience between floors during our immersive performance.
Good times. . .
Chicago's last manually operated public elevators near their last ride The Fine Arts Building on South Michigan Avenue is a living museum where art is displayed and made behind every door on every floor. It's home to the Studeba...

It's that time of year again. It's hard to believe I adapted this piece almost thirty years ago, after a life-threatening illness and the way-too-soon loss of deeply loved relative. I've shared it as a video for the past ten. I think this year it's important to say that it reflects a faith that has nothing to do with imposing morality but everything to do with being seen and loved.

The Severance popup in Grand Central Station reminded me of this: that time we did Josiah McElheny's The Club for Modern Fashions at The Arts Club. We all had timed entrances and exits but the work itself was improvised. Each of our characters inhabited different time periods. We could be aware of each other as ghosts of the past or dreams of the futue but we could not directly interact. We could play with objectives, spatial relationships and living our private lives in a fishbowl. I was 1950's Lady. I hope the cast of Severance had as much fun as we did!

This year we're putting the skeletons to work; Silas and Penelope are helping with the gardening. I'm not sure about the squirrel.
