Cool unexpected textures popped out while I was using my CNC to cut some chamfered walnut plugs. Reminds me of antique tile molds I used to see while working years ago.

Web series bench, from the way way back. (2018ish).
I remember the whole “Web Series” collection evolving from some new metalworking thoughts I was playing around with. Consumer level 3d printing was on the horizon at the time, and as I was learning more about filaments running through hot ends/nozzles, I couldn’t help but draw the parallels between that and wire running through a MIG welding gun. So I started playing around with the additive properties of welding- over filling joints with filler wire, then sculpting it back into an organic shape with an angle grinder. Basically metal 3D printing, but without any of those annoying computers getting in the way- much more sculptural.
I finished the Web Series Bench hours before I had to load it up into a crate and ship it to NYC to show it at ICFF that year. I used a wild pair of book-matched walnut slabs that had been ravaged by carpenter bees for the center section. I loved how organic the natural decay felt against the metal frame.
I still have the floor sample. We made a number of custom variations, but for whatever reason the original never left.

Baseball stitch on some leather wrapped brass door handles I made. Because off the rack isn’t an option. Custom everything.
