All pets receive vet care and a safe place to stay while we try to reunite them with their family. We do our best to help every pet without hesitation.

Pet rescue is our primary goal and we are only able to do it with the help of our ever growing network of animal lovers. Our primary goal is to return found pets to their rightful owners, and rehome those who are left behind. Most pets who come to us require very costly veterinary care and expensive surgeries. Everything from spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchiping, surgeries, CT scans, MRIs, ultr

🐈 Spike and Gizmo 🐈

Thank you Elly for being an exceptional foster mom, working with them all these months, providing the care, stability and love they deserve, and for writing this summary for us - thank you for going above and beyond 💖

The tale of bonded brothers born on 10/31/25.

These sweet orange dreamsicles were born outside to the most friendliest 1 year old kitty. It took a village with a lot of patience and stamina to trap these kittens and mom and get them into a foster home. Mom has been adopted and is thriving in her forever home.

These two young brothers needed some more socialization. They were fearful of people and needed some time to decompress and learn to trust people.

It has been such a privilege to be on this journey with them and watch their love of toys and churru treats unfold.

Spike and Gizmo are not just members of "chasing the red dot" fan club...they are the President and CEO of that club! They absolutely love chasing balls, ball towers, wand toys and watching bird and mice videos on youtube.

Dislikes: Sudden and abrupt movements, loud noises, and strangers. Once they trust you, they live for belly rubs, head scratches, snuggling you and climbing you like a tree. They will be extroverted, super social, and all up in your personal space....once they know you and trust you. This will not happen overnight!!They are slow to trust.

They will need someone who is patient, calm and will allow them to adjust on their own timeline. They will need to set the pace.

Spike and Gizmo will thrive in a calm and quiet home.

Adopters will need to be able to:

💥 seclude them to a small space in their home during the transition/adjustment phase to their new home.
💥 They will not do well with dogs.
💥 It is possible that they might adjust to another cat. However, that would depend on the temperament of the resident cat. In this case the adopters would need to be very cat savvy and fully committed to doing slow and proper intros with separation protocol.
💥 They would be okay with older children, not toddlers. Spike is very chatty and constantly telling stories and Gizmo is a motorous purring machine.

They are incredibly bonded and will only thrive if kept together. They rely on each other for security and also help build each other's confidence.

They have impeccable litter box manners, great eaters, fully vetted, neutered, up to date on vaccines, tested negative for FELV/FIV, and are very healthy.

They are really great about using a vertical scratching post. They are very cooperative for nail trims.

These boys are strictly indoor cats ONLY as all GSRF animals are!

They have been fed Fancy feast kitten turkey wet food, Royal Canin kitten dry food, churru and orijen cat treats.

They were using World's best litter and have graduated to Boxie pro clay clumping litter. While these boys will be incredibly shy at first, they have the full capacity to seek affection and give affection.

They will need someone who will understand that they have been through a lot to get where they are at.

They just need a compassionate person who will give them patience and time to get there.

And once Spike and Gizmo get to that place...they love wholeheartedly. Their love is magical purrrfection!!!

Update on Bruno!

Bruno is the dog who was recently scheduled for euthanasia.

He was found tied to a fence in January and was taken in by a family.

He was lethargic and taken to a vet, only to discover he had blockage and required surgery. Famous Fido Rescue Adoption, Wellness & Learning Center stepped up and paid for the surgery to remove a corn cob.

Everything appeared to be going well until May, when Bruno attacked the family's cat and that led to euthanasia.

He was subsequently turned over to the 16th District Chicago Police Department and then transferred to Chicago Animal Care and Control for a mandatory 10-day hold.

The family also reported that Bruno had bitten a family member. Based on the reported incidents, Bruno was placed on the euthanasia list.

The owner reached out to us for help, and we began looking more closely into the circumstances. We learned that the human bite occurred during a family altercation and appears to have been more of a protective response than an unprovoked attack. There was no broken skin and no medical treatment was required and no bite report was generated.

The circumstances surrounding the cat incident remain unclear.

We understand that there are many dogs at CACC with no reported bite history who are also in need of help. Not every case is the same, and right now we are focusing on helping this one.

Bruno needs structure, training, and guidance, and we are prepared to step up and provide that opportunity. Several supporters have already offered to help cover the cost of professional training, and we are incredibly grateful for that support.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out on Bruno's behalf. We will continue to share updates as he progresses.

Here is a video of Bruno this morning at his Foster home.

This boy is amazing!

We got to see him yesterday and could not believe how well he had improved ❤️‍🩹

The foster mom is doing a great job with him. Carter also gained 10 lbs (he is 43 now), which is a testament to good cooking and fabulous care by his foster mom.

Carter is still very timid and scared of his own shadow, but with love and patience, he will be someone’s best friend for life. He barks at the TV, anything that makes noise startles him, but he is getting better.

Honestly, we did not expect to see this great improvement he made in just two weeks.

Carter needs someone who can show him love, ease his anxiety and teach him that the world can be nice and it’s not so scary after all. He needs someone who can continue training (he is very smart according to his foster mom and to what we see). He can be protective of his surroundings, his safe place, so socializing him would be very important.

Maybe someone knows a K9 handler who could give Carter a loving home, a direction he needs and bring out the confidence in him.

He is a great pup! Approximately a year to 2 years old. He is healthy, microchipped, fully vaccinated and he is getting neutered this Tuesday and will be ready for adoption ❤️‍🩹

We need to find a new home for him by June 30th.

Bruno needs a chance!

According to the owner who surrendered him, Bruno is still at Chicago Animal Care and Control.

We will cover training for him if someone is willing to step up and save him.

He needs to be the only pet in the house.

Good evening,
The owner reached out to us to see if we can help Bruno. Tomorrow is day 10 of being at CACC. They are full and most likely he will be euthanized tomorrow. We asked the owner about the bite history. She was very transparent and this is what she said:

“The circumstances that led to Bruno and the bites was he 1st bit my sister but on that occasion, my sister and my niece was holding my daughter back from running down the stairs after someone and I believe he was protecting my daughter and the ,2nd time he went after our cat which was surprising and unfortunately we had to put our cat down.”

If you can help Bruno, please let us know. If you cannot, please share amongst other rescues or just share to help him get out of CACC.
Thank you 🙏🏼

Let’s pause for a second, lower our heads, reflect on our lives, say a prayer, be grateful, be humble and remember those who sacrificed their freedom and their lives so we can have ours 🇺🇸

Fireworks may be fun for people, but for many dogs they can be frightening and overwhelming. Loud noises, flashing lights, and open doors during celebrations can quickly lead to panic and escape. A little preparation before the fireworks begin can help keep your dog calm, comfortable, and safely at home.
