You know what to do. Do it.
You cannot make someone something they do not want to become.
It’s not only not your job, it’s not even within your capacity.
And I think a lot of times leaders get frustrated because they’re trying to make other people what they see in them.
Listen to people, and when they want to grow, help them grow.
You can get frustrated go, “They’re all just attending.”
Hey, they’re attending.
They’re doing better than the person who’s not attending.
Celebrate that they’re attending.
Just don’t put them in charge of anything.
You know, yeah, but, uh, isn’t it my job to grow everyone?
No, no, no, your job isn’t to grow everyone.
Your job is to help everyone who wants to grow to grow.
If the Holy Spirit cannot convict them to grow, who do you think you are?
How often are you talking about your pain?
I choose this life.
I am absolutely convinced that anger is intimately connected to arrogance.
And that when you struggle with humility, anger happens faster because you take everything personally.
You can be mad at me and start yelling at me, and it doesn’t inflame me because that’s a reflection of you.
It’s not a reflection of me.
If your identity is that you’re Latino or that you’re Black, male or female, something in some sense that’s fixed, it actually becomes more fragile.
Because you are deeper than that.
You’re more than that.
You have to actually go to a deeper identity around your essence, around your values, around your character.
And that’s when identity actually becomes most powerful.
God calls you to mastery over your inner world.
