This is one of my most treasured remembrances from my final days as Political Editor for WBBM Newsradio. Pictured are most of the Chicago City Council "Press Corps." Some of them are quite young. But these are the people who help bring you the news every day.
Simply put, they tell the truth. They seek it out, examine it, and tell the world what they have found. Every one of them is dedicated to accuracy and integrity.
They do stellar work. And that is not easy at a time when we have a White House that labels any story it doesn't like as "fake news." It's not easy when you have some major media companies bowing to pressure from that same White House to re-shape their news coverage and abandon decades-long efforts to employ a diverse staff, a staff that reflect the communities they serve.
I miss working side by side with these people. But I am encouraged that they share the same values that I lived by in my career. They are the future of this business, and it is in good hands.
