Chicago-China CleanTech Dinner feature Guest of Honor, David Rank 07/20/2017

An invite-only dinner was held on July 13th for two groups who were long-overdue for a joint dinner: Chicago’s top ‘China-hands’ and Chicago’s top clean-tech executives.

The implications of President Trump’s withdrawl from the Paris Climate Agreement are still being processed by the US and Chinese clean-tech industry, policy-makers, and investors. While on the surface it may seem like a low-point for environmental protection, one may also view the withdrawl as an business/investment opportunity, which over the long-term will be seen as an inflection point in the clean-tech industry.

Former US Acting Ambassador to China, David Rank – who submitted his resignation immediately after President Trump’s announcement, offered remarks about China, his experience as a career diplomat, and how US-China relations may develop going forward.

I am proud to announce the completion of the 2017 China BlueTech Awards in Shanghai. With dozens of international water and wastewater technology companies competing this year, ultimately only 7 were selected as Finalists and 2 were award Winners. China is a large and complex market for water and wastewater technologies, so the China BlueTech Awards exists to offer a means of recognizing technologies that show clear China market potential. Our judges agreed that all of this year's Finalists are positioned for success in China, but the two winning companies were deemed best-positioned to address clear and immediate market needs. On behalf of Mandarin Environment, and our partners BlueTech Research, Aquatech China, and the Global Water Purification Summit, I would like to congratulate Onvector and Element Six as the 2017 China BlueTech Award Winners.
