Melodic extreme metal project DREAMS OF GRAY has released its latest single “A Beginning,” the first track from the upcoming EP A Beginning, due out September 5th, 2025. Accompanied by a compelling lyric video, the song is now streaming on all major platforms, offering fans a powerful, emotionally rich glimpse into what’s next for the Chicago-based band.

Driven by a mixture of melody, melancholy, and unflinching heaviness, “A Beginning” captures the emotional heart of DREAMS OF GRAY’s sound. The track flows from introspective clean passages to explosive riffs and layered vocals—ranging from soft-spoken to guttural growls—all while remaining grounded in memorable songwriting. The lyric video, now live on the band’s official YouTube channel, enhances the track’s introspective power, visualizing themes of grief, reflection, and emotional rebirth.

Lyrically, the song poses a deeply human question: when someone we love dies without seeing everything they hoped to see in life, how do those left behind begin to make sense of that loss? It's a meditation on sorrow and survival, carried forward by the unmistakable intensity of Luis Rivera, who handles all vocals and guitars. Rivera, also a practicing Family Medicine Physician, brings a rare emotional intelligence to his songwriting—blending the cerebral with the cathartic.

“A Beginning” also features Nicole Trinchero on drums and Maria Kosma on bass, with mixing, engineering, and mastering handled by Josh Middleton (SYLOSIS, ex-ARCHITECTS), whose production brings clarity and power to every detail. The result is a debut single that feels both deeply personal and universally resonant.

Following the international acclaim of their 2023 EP The World After, DREAMS OF GRAY continues to earn a place among metal’s rising voices—praised for their unique fusion of melodic death, doom, thrash, and classic heavy metal influences.
