Last one standing… unbeknownst to me, my incredible late mother left me a personal letter detailing her wishes when “her number comes up” she ended by saying: “And live my love, live and enjoy! Miss me, but make sure you realize that I was so happy to be your mother AND I am at peace! I am at peace my child—always remember that!” Mom 9/7/1998. Words I promise to live by…I stand resolute! It’s M😍VIE time! While awaiting another film loving friend, I enjoyed the street Fes launching this year’s annual Chicago International Film Festival, and this year’s premiere film didn’t disappoint‼️ My parents met n a movie theater, so I have always found solace, wonder and peace in one. Also considering becoming a film maker myself🤔😉

Yesterday I was drawn into the “vortex” of this amazing hypnotic piece by yesterday at the Geneva Art Fair… nothin like a shot of great art, sunshine and friends to fuel and inspire the soul‼️😉💯⚡️🙏🏼

Was absolutely BLOWN the F away by this breathtaking portrait of Winnie Mandela by and other magnificent pieces by and even an earlier piece by and so many works graciously shared by collection shown at yesterday. My sincerest thanks to Ms. Pounder, the museum, the curators and everyone who made this evening of great art possible‼️

Finally completed my watercolor painting of my late mom and her brothers. My ultimate goal is to create an animated short film (pls DM with any animation tips & software) based on my mom’s memories of her childhood told by her n the first person, which I’m writing as well. This painting will serve as the basis for their depictions, etc. It’s taken me nearly 6 months to paint this (I’d start then stop) swipe to see what I had to work with🙄I’m pleased with the way it turned out.. stay tuned. 🙏🏼to all 5 of u for loving me, I’ll miss u all for the rest of my days, but now I honor u with my art, the only way I know how by immortalizing u 4ever‼️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Halloween 2022 … Some of y’all know Halloween was always my fav time planning my costume for weeks. But not this year, it’s different this time I’m overcome with grief and my own personal nightmare🥹Oddly enough while at my late Mom’s appartement I discovered this drawing I did as a teenager, I think it was the only time I ever drew something from the horror genre. My Mom kept all my artwork so I had to post this piece. She would want me to share with the world her “little girls” artwork… she was my #1 fan! I guess if I had to put a face on experiencing such loss, it would b this: the legendary Lon Chaney as the Phantom of the Opera drawn by me

Better than all the rest! 🎶 The GOATS, & her sister inspired so many, not just by they’re superior athleticism, but the fortitude and strength they displayed against all the naysayers and haters is unsurpassed! Back n 2017 (same yr Serena had health challenges), my ability to walk was threatened by a crippling brain tumor, like Serena I had to battle BACK and she inspired me so much that for Halloween n 2018 when I was able to walk unassisted it seemed fitting to dress up n “my” interpretation of her famous black tutu! Thank you for all the thrilling heart stopping matches from me and my late Mom who adored u both😘🙏🏼🙏🏼 🎾

More heartbreak for me and my family😢My beloved and only surviving Uncle passed away suddenly last week. I’m afraid my dear Mom, his only sister’s death was just too much for him to bare💔💔The two of them were the only siblings to reach their mid 80s and were extremely close. He was like a father figure to me and my cousins, so we are all beyond devastated to loose him so close to my sweet Mom. Now they’re all together again. RIP MP & Unc🙏🏼🙏🏼

My world went dim on Thursday when my wonderful mother took her last breath with me by her side, but her brilliant light will shine on endlessly! “Momma Mazique” (1935-2022) was a nickname given to her by a coworker years ago when she gifted me with a cruise to the Greek islands and the Middle East. After that vacation, the 2 of us continued to travel the world! Words cannot describe my sadness, but my Mom’s light will fuel me to keep going. Our love for each other is endless… thank you, nite nite Mom Pom I c u n the “marnin” RIP💔🙏🏼😢🤗

This exhibit at particularly hits close to home, it’s an homage to Chicago’s often maligned neighborhood of Englewood… that’s until artist decided to present her masterpiece piece showcasing the horrendous real estate practices that contributed to this unfair assessment. Kuddos for brilliant storytelling! My heart is full of❤️and pride, so wonderful to c u hi to Mom🤗✌🏼💯
