It's hard to believe we picked this beast up 1 year ago today. A quick trip to Chicago would also not have been complete without a stop at .⠀

Sometimes you have to ditch the van, and explore by boat!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's crazy to think it's been almost a year since we got the van, and we took it for her maiden voyage around the entirety of Lake Michigan. ⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You cannot make this trip without crossing the beautiful Mackinac Bridge seen here, which is the longest suspension bridge between anchorages in the Western Hemisphere.⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you want to get up, Star Line ferry boats heading to Mackinac Island from Mackinaw City will even take you under the bridge!⠀

We always knew this whole thing was going to be part-time, but the long Iowa winter and wet spring has left the van stationary for far too long.

Some open roads would definitely do the trick right now!

Before any major trip, we have to do the 20,000 mile service, and after the last $110 oil change that turned into $190 at checkout, we're going the DIY route and will be posting some content related to the process.

Tens of thousands of years ago, the Northeast corner of New Mexico looked much different then it does today. The area between Raton and Clayton contains many extinct volcanic peaks. Capulin Volcano, seen here, rises over 1000 feet above the surrounding flat plains.

Since we don't live in our van full time, we had to keep it flexible. The removable platform bed allows for very quick switches between camp and work mode. Now if we could just cut down on the time it takes to pack for our trips....

We added some powerful JBL 6x9s and utility lighting to the back doors.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Not only does it complete the sound system inside the van while driving, but it's great for tailgating too!

It's been a rough winter in the Driftless Area. Fields along the Turkey River in Northeast Iowa are covered in nearly a foot of ice.
