Confidence Freaks Me Out turned one year old yesterday. This album opened doors we never thought possible—touring new cities, sharing stages with artists we deeply admire, and reaching tons of new freaks. Eyyyy! New music and show announcement!

Our third single, Ey Vaay, is out everywhere today. It’s the sound of exasperation on loop. Countervailing sax and guitar riffs bob between 15/ then 4/ then 5/4 time, carried along by a motorik of clattering drums, amplified ventilation grates, and trashy bootleg audio.

To celebrate the upcoming album release, please join us on November 3rd for a joint record release show, celebrating our second full-length, “Confidence Freaks Me Out”, as well as Sapaato’s upcoming record, “Somewhere Else”. Toot toot! New song, ”Berry”, is out today!

The Farsi word for mulberry is ‘toot’. Memories of harvesting toot trees in our grandmothers’ gardens mingle with nonsense farsi-english phrases and allusions to late night family backgammon.

Childish tinkerings blossom into a thicket of prepared glockenspiels and hammered “santur” harps, a patchwork blanket of grandmotherly warmth. Nursery rhyme vocals and synth accompaniments emerge and recede, like sweat beading and dripping on a cold glass of sour cherry juice. It’s all here, underneath our maman’s toot tree.
