Austin Coming Together (ACT)’s mission is to facilitate the collective impact of 50+ members and hundreds of partners to improve the quality of life in Chicago's Austin community. Since 2010, we’ve been connecting residents to services, attracting investments for the community, and building capacity for policy change. Today, we want to highlight one of the returning recipients of our Austin Eats Culinary Entrepreneur Grant: Chef Ali Kleiche, founder of Mafunzo International Fitness and Kitchen! As both a chef and a personal trainer, Ali is passionate about empowering his community with the knowledge and resources to live healthier, more balanced lives. At the core of his business is a commitment to holistic wellness - that means nourishing the body, mind, and spirit.

Chef Ali places a strong emphasis on using organic, locally-sourced ingredients, using an abundance of fresh produce from his own garden in his cooking. As a certified personal trainer, he integrates fitness and nutrition coaching into his programs, working closely with clients to develop customized exercise routines and meal plans that cater to their individual needs and goals.

Last year, Mafunzo participated as a vendor at the Austin Town Hall Farmers Market and provided a food demo as well.

Through this collaboration, Austin resident and BMO employee Taloyta β€œToi” Strickland works right on the West Side, providing direct financial guidance to neighbors navigating career transitions.
