Super pleased to announce that my team and I got a federal criminal jury of 12 to deadlock 6-6 in a high-stakes case involving gun charges. This was a big win for us, considering that the Pue Research Center has found that fewer than 1% of criminal defendants in federal criminal trials get acquitted, or get a mistrial via a deadlocked jury.
More challenging for our team was the fact that my client is a convicted felon and that the United States Justice Department presented four Chicago police officers who testified that they found a gun in my client’s car as well as three civilian witnesses who said the same thing. Numerous ATF special agents worked on the case and the Justice Department assigned two top prosecutors to litigate the case.
Our defense heavily depended on cross-examination to get out our theory that the gun had been planted on my client; and I am so thankful for the masterful cross-examination Ari Williams, Shay T Allen and myself subjected each witness to.
The Feds have indicated that they are unsure if they will re-prosecute the case. But if they do, we will be ready.
Super grateful to my friend and colleague, Jack Kennedy of Kennedy Watkins, in working hard with me to secure a one million dollar settlement in a recent technically tough wrongful death case.

I am pleased to announce a recently secured Not Guilty verdict by reason of insanity on a murder case I recently handled.
Such verdicts are very hard to secure because the defense of insanity is only used in about one percent of criminal cases and successful in just a fraction of those. The reason for this difficulty is simple. To demonstrate insanity, it is not enough to show a defendant suffered mental illness, rather, it must be shown too, that the mental illness caused the defendant to lack substantial capacity to appreciate the criminality of his or her conduct during the commission of the crime.

I am pleased to announce that State Farm Insurance has agreed to award a settlement to my client in the amount of $1.25 million.
On October 17, 2020, an off duty police officer crashed his car, head-on into a vehicle carrying my client. The off-duty officer was subsequently arrested and charged with two counts of felony DUI.
As a result of the crash, my client sustained a ruptured bladder and a fractured right femur bone as well as having to undergo two surgeries.
After negotiations, State Farm Insurance has agreed to settle this case for the Maximum policy limit of $1.25M.
At Uche P.C., we handle class actions, personal injury, medical malpractice, civil rights and select criminal cases. This current settlement demonstrates the aggressive approach we take on behalf of our clients and marks the second million dollar settlement Attorney Uche has secured for his clients within a two month period.
