It's about time insurance companies step up and cover the insured for Hidradenitis Suppurativa. This incredibly painful and distressing chronic condition needs to be treated with every modality available. Laser Hair Removal clearly has an impact. This link is to a study publised in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. I believe this study doesn't go far enough. Patients were only given 4 treatments at 6 week intervals. To achieve the maximum degree of hair reduction, which can be nearly 100%, individuals need more than 4 treatments, with the later treatments having much longer intervals between sessions. Patients need to be made aware of the role LHR plays. Diagnosing and offering LHR with insurance coverage is good for the patient and the provider.

Excellent small study by Dr Ross with Scripps demonstrating the improved efficacy in hair reduction using a blending of 755nm and 1064nm wavelength for the Type IV patients with fine lighter hair.
