In February 2011, the Enfant Jesus Community Clinic (EJCC) opened its doors to the rural Haitian village of Lamardelle. Village of Vision for Haiti Foundation hopes to secure necessary operating funding for the clinic for the next three years so that it can become established as a trusted and reliable source of health care and health education for the community. Achieving these goals will move VVHF and FEJ closer to our shared vision for both the clinic and the community as a whole. Reinsertion Program:
Access to education, health care and nutrition is fundamental for all. With more than 20,000 inhabitants, the village Lamardelle remains an area where the majority of people who wish to provide for their families are in a precarious economic situation and unable to do it. With the help of partners like VVHF, Foundation Enfant Jesus established a reinsertion program to both educate families in areas such as clean water, hygiene, nutrition and family planning and then also assist them in establishing successful micro-enterprises, which will contribute to their economic stability. Vocational Program:
The purpose of this project is to provide funds for purchasing supplies such as sewing machines and other related and much needed items for the programs operated by Fondation Enfant Jesus (FEJ). By empowering Haitians, mainly women in this case, allows for a long term recovery effort that will be sustainable over time. The “quick-fix”/charity approach is not the answer in Haiti. Our efforts must be extended so that women and other household members can be self-sufficient while also contributing their skills and talents to their communities. The funding we aim to provide will also allow FEJ to hire proper Haitian teachers and artisans who can deliver and implement the vocational program for the women and their families.
