Today, we recognize Juneteenth — a celebration of freedom, resilience, and reflection.

At ECHO-Chicago, we also acknowledge how historical injustices and discriminatory policies continue to impact the health and wellbeing of Black communities today. From maternal health disparities to higher rates of chronic disease, these inequities remain urgent public health issues that require continued action, education, and advocacy.

As we celebrate Freedom Day, we also reflect on the work still needed to advance health equity for all. ❤️🖤💚

"The best thing I can do is meet the client where they are and go from there."

We're grateful to hear how our Behavioral Health: Adult Populations ECHO series has helped participants strengthen their approach to care while connecting with colleagues across disciplines.

Thank you to this participant for sharing their experience and for being part of our ECHO-Chicago learning community. 🫶

☀️ Extreme heat is more than an inconvenience—it's a public health emergency. ⚠️

High temperatures can increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for older adults, young children, people with chronic health conditions, outdoor workers, pregnant individuals, and those without access to adequate cooling.

Knowing the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke can save lives. Stay hydrated, seek air-conditioned spaces when possible, check on neighbors and loved ones, and avoid prolonged outdoor activity during peak heat hours.

📍 Need a cool place to go? The City of Chicago operates cooling centers throughout the city during periods of extreme heat.
📲 Call 311 to find the nearest open cooling center.

Together, we can help keep our communities safe and healthy this summer.

The conversations we have with ourselves matter. A small shift in perspective can change the way we approach challenges, setbacks, and everyday stress. 💚

“I have to” becomes ⏩ “I get to.”
“I made a mistake” ⏩ “I learned a lesson.”

This month, (and beyond) challenge yourself to practice self-compassion, check in with those around you, and prioritize your mental well-being—because words have power. 🗣

It's

How was your weekend? How are you feeling? Stressed? Are you sleeping okay?

Mental health concerns don’t always look the same—but there are signs we shouldn’t overlook. Recognizing changes like persistent anxiety, fatigue, or loss of interest is an important first step toward support and care.
