I’m not sure where the phrase, “Is she/he/they ‘just a sub’” came from, in regards to substitute teachers. But any person who is willing to step into a school, whether it be for a class period, a day, a quarter, a semester, a year… can have lasting impact on a student. All it takes is a smile, a listening ear, a willingness to be present to a young person.
As I finish another semester of being (not) “just a sub,” I want to thank MTSD, my colleagues, and most importantly, the students who made me feel very appreciated on the days when I needed a purpose.

As if a night with me, Lisa Ann “The Glam Ham” and my famous wiener jokes wasn’t already going to be a fabulous time, Papa Joe’s Wine Cellar is taking it up a notch!
Before I take the stage at PJWC at 7:30 PM tomorrow night, join us for a special Meet & Greet with the Glam Ham on the patio from 6:00–7:00 PM. My man meat Joe Hengle will be there too, and he will get the laughs started!
Why the patio? Because no Glam Ham event would be complete without hot dogs!
Stop by, grab a couple of hot dogs, enjoy some laughs. The Glam Ham might roast you and your we**ie a lil… so kick off your evening in style. If you decide you’d like to keep the fun going, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase a ticket to the show. Your first glass of wine or beer is on Papa Joe’s!
