4 years, 10 artists, 10 meals, and multitudes of thoughtful and critical conversations.

It has been the most interesting and life-giving project I’ve done and I’m so humbled by the community that has formed within these walls.

table will be taking a long break, as I, Kyle Bellucci Johanson, am participating in the 2022-23 Independent Study Program at the . I don’t know what will happen after those 9 months, so it seems pertinent to mark this time and acknowledge what’s happened here. There are many, many people to thank, the dinner participants, regular guests, avid supporters, Nate young, who designed and built our namesake, and of course, the artists who’ve made exhibitions here.

They are, in the order of their shows:

Gregory Bae
Joestine Con-Ui

And , who’s exhibition, “A TIRED DOG IS A GOOD DOG, PART ONE” is open through July 2 by appointment.

table

table is a temporary artist-run project space organized by Kyle Bellucci Johanson in the city of Chicago. table hosts artists for solo shows with public receptions and private long-form discursive meals with invited guests of the artist’s choosing. These discursive meals cultivate primary content for texts in a critical publication documenting each artist’s project. table is an experiment in becoming; inhabiting thresholds between so-called discrete categories of subject and object, public and private, individual and collective; to situate practices and facilitate critical discourse, building community outside of either institution or market.
