Rebalancing. The Oakley Residence started as two separate homes. Properly uniting them demanded more than a new hole in the brick party wall. Backing the threshold between the two structures, the new kitchen position recenters the home’s layout. A tall, lacquer-wrapped bank of appliances creates a subtle divide—softening the scale of the expansive interiors while offering the perfect surface for a beloved artwork that grounds the dining area.

The Prairie Retreat was designed for family and friends to come together. That said, sometimes a quiet break is in order. This cozy porch, nestled in the guest wing and overlooking a peaceful meadow, serves as a temporary hideaway from the large communal terrace just around the corner.
