Dr. Mitri Raheb, the pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Christmas Church in Bethlehem, and the founder and president of the Diyar Consortium, a group of Lutheran-based, ecumenically-oriented institutions serving the Bethlehem area. He shares a personal perspective and deep concern for the people of Gaza at the present time.

In a letter to Bishop Dr. Sani Ibrahim-Azar of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land, Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton offers the support, prayers and advocacy efforts of the ELCA saying, “I pledge our accompaniment and support to you as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land and its ministries provide ‘critical and timely assistance [psychological and otherwise] to those affected by this war.’”

16 Days of Activism is a campaign started by the United Nations thirty-one years ago to raise awareness and take a stand against sexual and gender-based violence. Central Europe Teachers is joining with World Council of Churches for the second year in a row to visibly reduce barriers to safe space. This year, the Evanjelické lýceum, , and Evanjelické gymnázium Juraja Tranovského all participated in Thursdays in Black (and red). I hope to add photos from our other partner schools as well.
