The story of Illinois has been shaped indelibly by Sicilian immigrants. What an honor it was to commemorate that history and bond with Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas. Cin cin!

During my recent trip to the Metro East, I had the privilege of meeting William Rekowski, the longest serving precinct committee person in Illinois. Rekowski has served the Collinsville 22 precinct for 52 years.

In our conversation, Rekowski talked about meeting neighbors where they are to discuss the issues that matter most and encouraging them to vote Democratic.

Having grown up in downstate Illinois, I enjoy traveling all around our great state.

In Granite City, I joined fired-up Metro East residents at the Democratic Party of Illinois Summit to talk about what we are doing to bring more opportunity to every family in the state.

Then, I traveled to a farm outside of Donnellson to meet with motivated Illinoisans from Montgomery and surrounding counties.

The one sure way to lose is to give up, and I didn’t see a lot of quit among the people who traveled from throughout central and southern Illinois to be there. I’m feeling good about my fellow Democrats!

Forever grateful to Rock Island County 🇺🇸

When I first ran for Treasurer in 2014, Rock Island County showed up for me.

Last night, I asked for your support for my 4th term, and Rock Island County did what they’ve always done for me: they showed up.

I’ll always show up for you too. Special thanks to Doug House for introducing me last night, Kavanaugh's Hilltop for the space, and Rock Island County Democrats for the enthusiastic support.

“At the end of the day, most of us want the same things — a good job, a safe home, a better future for our kids. We just disagree on the best way to get there. And that’s OK. What’s not OK is treating fellow Americans like enemies. We can debate without demeaning. We can disagree without dehumanizing.”
