Chicago Serrans Jill and Tony Yacu were part of a pilgrimage in Rome with Blase Cardinal Cupich, Vocations Director Fr. Tim Monahan, Fr. Pat Gorman (secretary to Cardinal Cupich and past director of seminarians), Chicago vocations supporters/staff and discerners. They presented Pope Leo with an autographed Paul Konerko White Sox jersey and Air Jordans with the Papal crest. The Air Jordan shoes were a gift from the Serra Club of Chicago and the Archdiocese of Chicago Vocations Office. The shoes included a note assuring His Holiness of our prayers while humbly asking for his prayers in return for an increase in vocations in Chicago. Serra International is a global lay apostolate dedicated to praying for vocations to the priesthood and consecrated religious life. It is aggregated to the Vatican through the Dicastery for the Clergy and was founded in 1935. Serra International has members all over the world, but its headquarters are based in Chicago.
