Jackson's Message to ROW Team: BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR WILDLIFE FOR ME!

Jackson embarked on his rowing journey in the fall of his freshman year in 2009. He realized he probably wouldn’t reach 6'5" for other sports. His dad's friend had a daughter who rowed, and this introduction initiated Jackson's rowing journey in his hometown of Asheville, where he joined the rowing team.

Jackson continued his rowing success in college, where he was in the 7th seat (stroke pair), and later took part in masters programs in Chicago. He has rowed in the Head of the Charles 7 times (3x as a college athlete, 4x since then).

Jackson brought a wealth of experience to the ROW team, with his rich background in rowing, both as an athlete and a coach.
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jackson for his unwavering dedication, energy, and kindness. His countless contributions have truly helped ROW flourish. Under his guidance, we’ve seen the introduction of new programs, practice squads, and competition opportunities, allowing us to serve more survivors than ever with consistent support and exercise. While it's difficult for us to say goodbye, we are genuinely excited for Jackson and his wonderful wife as they embark on this new adventure in the Pacific Northwest for her medical residency. This new chapter is a remarkable opportunity for both of them, and we wish them all the best as they begin this journey!

Mother-Daughter Duo - a first for ROW!
Breanne & Jessica
Coxswains
Jessica is a Sophomore at St. Ignatius College Prep. This is her second year as a coxswain, Boys JV 4+ and 8+ Teams. She started volunteering at ROW end of Summer and the beginning of the fall season in 2025. She said that the ROWers are so kind, always thankful, and really show that they enjoy rowing together.

Breanne rowed in HS and sometimes was called up to be a coxswain. She rowed with the Westerville Crew. She was a coxswain at University of Cincinnati, 2003. It’s been 23 years since she’s been in a rowing team and the first time since then was last Monday, 4/13. The ROWers in her boat were so kind to her as she was a little “rusty.”
She transferred to The Ohio State University but did not row there.

They live very close to the Eleanor Boathouse, and they heard about a rowing team that practices there. They heard more information from Jody R. a ROW team member, as she coached the Novice Team at St. Ignatius. They love volunteering and were excited to combine it with something that they enjoy...the sport of rowing.

Jessica and Breanne are deeply inspired by the ROWers, who bravely face the difficult journey of breast cancer, with some still in the battle. Their unwavering spirit and commitment to the team reflect the true essence of trust, teamwork, and hard work that define the sport of rowing. The ROWers truly embody these qualities.

Their family has several members who have faced breast cancer and other cancers. It's tough to see loved ones go through such challenges, but they draw strength from each other along the way.

FUN FACT: Jessica was a member of the Joffrey Ballet Children’s cast for 2018 and 2019. She was Snow flake number 2, sometimes number 4.
FUN FACT: Breanne is a huge college football fan, The Ohio State and Tennessee. She only gets crazy during game day.
