Uyuhaus in Buffalo Grove is making small batch Asian inspired ice cream out of their home kitchen and the flavor range is genuinely impressive. Thai Tea, Perilla Oil with Pumpkin Seed Brittle, Vietnamese Coffee, Taro, Ube - and even a Blackberry Sumac option that pulls from Arabic and Mediterranean influences. They’re not playing it safe here and it shows.
Ordering is simple - head to their Instagram, place your order through the link, get a pickup time, and grab your pints in Buffalo Grove. Around eleven bucks a pint for this quality is more than fair. Worth seeking out.
Yeero Revolution in Buffalo Grove has become a staple for Greek street food in the north suburbs. Been coming back consistently since they opened and proud to call John a friend at this point. Warm atmosphere, clean food, and a spot that genuinely feels like it belongs to the neighborhood.
The yeeros are their bread and butter and it shows. Fresh off the rotisserie, consistent every single time. But they’re always pushing things forward too - a smashburger on pita buns, creative flavors, new ideas that still feel true to their roots.
Migos Fine Foods in Portage Park is the kind of spot that makes you appreciate what Chicago’s neighborhood food scene is really about. Chefs Brian Jupiter and Ozi have spent over a decade in some of Chicago’s top kitchens, and chose to channel that into something personal - a community driven halal spot where the craft shows up in every single dish.
Southern comfort meets Mexican flavors. Chicken al pastor tacos, lamb cheesesteak torta, beignets - every dish carries the same level of intention and care. Bronzeville just got their second location so be sure to go support these guys.

La Dō in Northbrook is doing sourdough deep dish out of a suburban office complex and it’s one of those hidden gems you’d never stumble upon unless someone pointed you in the right direction. Their menu has some solid options. The Chicago Way with Italian beef and giardiniera, a veggie special, and many others. I added a sourdough cookie to my order too. The sourdough crust is excellent and they’ve clearly got the recipe dialed in. Worth seeking out.

Glow Wild at Brookfield Zoo is the zoo’s first lantern festival running through May 10
Over 70 illuminated animals, free rides, and plenty of food vendors with classics like hotdogs and pretzels, to an Asian menu with shrimp toast and crab rangoons. If you’re planning a family night out, you’ve got about a week left to check it out
Fry the Coop is a staple for chicken in the Chicagoland area. Known for their chicken sandwiches and tenders, they recently added beef tallow wings to the menu. The beef tallow gives them a distinct depth of flavor you won’t find at most wing spots. They do lean on the drier side, but the coop sauce or ranch takes care of that. Worth adding to your order next time you stop in.
Da Local Boy has been one of my favorite spots in the Chicagoland area for a while now, and I genuinely get excited every time I go. Hawaiian cuisine done with real care and real flavor - you can taste the effort in every single bite. The fact that they just opened a second location in the Chicago Loop means more people get to experience what I’ve been raving about. Critics and foodies are catching on, and honestly, they deserve every bit of it. If you haven’t been, make it a priority.
