“The more I think about it, maybe I should always just say I’m a language-based artist rather than text-based… because while yes, I use text in my work, its semiotics are not prioritized over those of the principles of composition and design. Visual language and verbal language are leveled into one playing field in my work.”

TOMORROW!! Join and at the opening of her exhibit “A Capitalist Plaid” 💥💅🏻
Can’t wait to see you there!
Pictured is one of the 9 diptychs (painting + poem drawing), titled “Capitalist Plaid #1” — the work that started this whole series in quarantine of 2020 from the artist’s tiny studio apartment, alone with her pup.
All of the poem-drawings in the exhibition are original text by Kramlich, and they were all drawn this year.

A Capitalist Plaid opens this Friday at ! 💥
The exhibition consists of nine diptychs; each diptych is a painting and a poem which function together as a single work, complicating and adding stratified meaning to each other. The poems are originals by Kramlich, and her premise is that if drawing is mark-making, then writing is drawing. Hence, each poem is a drawing on Arches paper.
The poem drawings were all completed this year, as well as two of the paintings. The other seven paintings span from true quarantine 2020 through 2023.
We’re looking forward to the opening, and we’ll see y’all there! The artist will be present 🎉🏳️🌈👩🏻🎤

Y’all. 🏳️🌈 It’s le***an visibility week!! 🩷❤️🧡🤍
And imma hit you with some truth.
One of many reasons it took me so long to come out is because both straight and q***r communities had me convinced for a long time that in-between-ers weren’t real.
You heard me.
So I’m here to let all of y’all who don’t fit into any given binary (or several) know that you’re valid.
I am both a le***an and not a le***an and that’s valid.
I am — if we wanna get technical with my own wording for myself — a pansexual/demi/sapio woman who is currently in a very committed and loving le***an relationship. (Love you, )
In the past, I have loved others who are not women, and that was also real and valid for me.
It’s ok to be an in-between-er.
So here are some photos of my q***r self loving life. And my lady (who was driving in the car photo, don’t worry). And the first time I got to tie her bow tie (🥰🥰🥰) — special shout out of thanks to our friend for sneaking that photo! 💜✌🏻
Be your full and authentic selves as soon as you feel able, y’all. It’s really lovely 😘 and I support you.
