It was a wonderful day for chess at the Spring 2026 Tournament in Austin, Texas!

The event was held on April 18th at St. Dominic Savio Catholic High School. We were thrilled to welcome 91 young players competing across 3 divisions (K-1, 2-3, 4-5), showing off their focus, strategy, and sportsmanship. A big shout out goes to all the kindergarteners who were so brave to compete!

The event had an epic showdown at the corral for 1st place for the 2/3 and 4/5 division which was super exciting to watch, and the kids played like champs!

Special thanks go out to St. Dominic Savio Catholic High School for hosting, to all the families that came to support their young players, and to all of our Chess Wizard staff who worked so hard to put on this amazing event and helped create such a fun and welcoming environment.

Perseverance in chess is about more than just winningโ€”itโ€™s about staying focused when the game gets tough, learning from every mistake, and refusing to give up even when youโ€™re down.

Encouraging children to keep going and keep growing is one of the most powerful traits we can nurture in them. And in chess, just like in life, progress comes from patience, practice, and persistence. One move at a time, one game at a time. โ™Ÿ๏ธ
