There is no end to learning about wine. Not only was it my first time visiting Navarrete in Rioja, but it was also my introduction to Maturana Blanca and Maturana Tinta. The ferrous clay soil of the village and the indigenous varieties have been brought to life by at her “bodeguita.” These are “must try” wines although I know will only be able to import a small quantity due to the tiny size of the winery. Thanks to Elena for sharing her project with us!

Laguardia is one of Rioja’s most important villages, and shows the results of hard work in the vineyard, and a deft touch in the cellar. Using organic, biodynamic and regenerative farming, the single vineyard focused wines are truly world class. The texture of these wines, their complexity and balance is stunning. Good thing is bringing in these incredible wines. Thanks for a great visit!

Get ready Chicago because our friends are bringing in the spectacular wine of Israel Eguíluz. Last Tuesday I visited with Israel and his wife Marta at their small cellar in Ábalos. The video shown is a glimpse at the Carrapeciña vineyard, which produces an incredible layered red that is amongst the best of Rioja. But I’m also excited to share with you the simple yet so easy to drink joven which is made in the traditional whole cluster style in concrete tank. The wines of are exactly the kind of Rioja energy we need! Congrats on the great work and thank you for hosting us!

Making wine on a human scale is what has been doing since 2010. Based in the village of Zarratón, his wines are soulful and fun to drink. It’s a fresh perspective, and much needed. Thanks for the hospitality!

Remelluri is deservedly one of the most important names in Rioja. Yet the winery, under the leadership of Telmo Rodríguez, does not rest on its laurels. Constant improvements in vineyard management and vinification are in motion. A big thank you to the team, including Rafa and José for their time. A fantastic surprise to see the always in motion Telmo as well.

Tuesday Feature: Report from Remelluri - The wines of Telmo Rodríguez and Remelluri have never been better. I had an amazing visit on Monday, walking the vineyards, tasting the new releases, and a great lunch with friends and colleagues. Fans of Rioja should not miss these!

Sometimes my work trips are work. Other times they are reuniting with family. I love my Foz Côa family: Mateus, João, Teresa and Mafalda. I am not sure where I was, but this old school club was the perfect night of laughter, dinner, drinking wines, and even speeches.

This is a hands-on retail role—applicants must be able to lift 60 lbs repeatedly and enjoy staying busy. Customer focus, curiosity, and a desire to keep learning are a must.
